From being lost in the darkness for so long, I had lost my perception of reality.
The sense of time became a blur.
I no longer recognized the change of seasons.
I stopped listening to the birds.
I stopped feeling the wind.
I couldn’t see the clouds anymore.
I forgot to enjoy the beauty of the sunset.
I was stuck in this dark maze.
I thought of embracing the darkness and letting go.
But then I heard him — it was a mere whisper at first,
like the susurrations of the wind.
Like the Pied Piper, the voice kept pulling me towards it.
I followed the voice.
Without even realizing it, the voice led me out of the darkness.
And then I heard it loud and clear:
All I could hear was, “Life is worth living.”
And then, I saw him—
that beautiful, dimpled smile,
a smile that held the warmth of a thousand suns.
I found my comfort in him.
I believed in life because he said so.
I believed him when he said, “Life is worth living,”
and those words led me out of the darkness.
