She looked at the picture for the nth time and a sigh left her lips.
She was debating whether to post her picture on social media or not. The picture was a good one.
But…,
My arms- do they look weird.
My bra strap’s showing on this picture.
Oh! I have that burn mark on my arm and my hands – they look old.
Maybe I shouldn’t have worn the tank top?
Do I look weird?
Her mind was going haywire with all these thoughts.
This is what most of us do. We doubt ourselves. We worry too much of what others might think. Humans are trapped in their own insecurities more often than we think.
Everyone has their own insecurities – a version of them that they are afraid to show to the world. But even with all these imperfections, we put on our masks and go out into the world, pretending to be perfect.
But even the slightest ripple can cause that façade to crumble, letting self-doubt crawl in.
Humans crave external validation. They thrive on it. But they will never accept it.
But does it really matter?
Rather than seeking external validation and focusing on those little imperfections, let’s embrace them and be ourselves. Let’s focus on loving ourselves.
Post that picture.
Talk to your crush.
Smile at people.
Sing or dance or do whatever that makes you happy.
Cheers to embracing the imperfections and falling in love with you all over again.
“She looked at the picture again and realized that she was genuinely smiling in them. She had a beautiful smile. It’s okay if the picture isn’t perfect. She is imperfect but she is happy and that’s what matters. She learned to love herself with all those imperfections.”
